After being sent to a youth detention center for assault, 18-year-old Andrej finds himself trapped in a world ruled by violence, control, and survival. Determined to prove his strength and earn respect, he quickly catches the attention of Željko—the charismatic but dangerous leader of the group. What begins as a mentor-like bond soon turns into something darker, forcing Andrej to navigate between loyalty, fear, and desire in an environment that punishes weakness.

As Željko’s influence grows stronger, Andrej becomes torn between his need for acceptance and his own moral boundaries. The line between power and manipulation begins to blur, and Andrej’s silence becomes both his armor and his prison. Every choice he makes draws him deeper into a web of intimidation and exploitation, where vulnerability is a weapon and survival means betraying others—or himself.
Haunted by his past and desperate for redemption, Andrej struggles to reconnect with his family, who view him as a lost cause. Yet beneath his hardened exterior lies a young man longing to be seen for who he truly is. The more he resists the cycle of violence, the more dangerous his situation becomes, as Željko’s control tightens and the cost of defiance grows deadly.

In moments of rare tenderness and quiet rebellion, Andrej glimpses the possibility of freedom—both from the detention center and from the emotional grip of those around him. But breaking free requires confronting not only his oppressors, but also the parts of himself shaped by shame, guilt, and hidden desire. His path becomes one of painful self-discovery, where courage means standing alone against everything he once believed kept him safe.

Consequences (2018) is a raw, powerful exploration of masculinity, identity, and the search for belonging. Through its intense performances and unflinching realism, the film reveals how fragile power can be when built on fear, and how redemption often comes not through strength—but through honesty. It’s a coming-of-age story that dares to look into the darkest corners of youth and find the humanity still flickering within.
