Stay Alive (2006) is a supernatural horror film that follows a group of friends who discover a mysterious and unreleased video game called "Stay Alive." After one of their friends dies shortly after playing it, they realize that the events in the game are somehow linked to real-life deaths. Intrigued and horrified, the remaining friends begin playing the game, only to find that if you die in the game, you die the same way in reality. The line between virtual and reality begins to blur, trapping them in a terrifying race for survival.

The group, led by Hutch, a gamer dealing with personal loss, starts investigating the origin of the game. Their search leads them to the dark legend of Elizabeth Bathory, a 17th-century countess known for bathing in the blood of virgins to preserve her youth. It turns out the game is cursed and tied to Bathory’s spirit, which uses it as a tool to continue her killings centuries later. With every level of the game they complete, the danger in the real world intensifies.

As more of their friends fall victim to the curse, Hutch and the remaining survivors must figure out how to stop the game from claiming more lives. They explore gothic mansions, piece together haunting clues, and uncover hidden secrets about the game’s creation. The movie blends traditional horror with early-2000s gaming culture, creating a unique atmosphere of suspense and digital dread

Tensions rise as they realize they can’t simply quit the game — the only way to survive is to finish it. The characters must face their deepest fears and rely on both gaming skills and bravery to confront Bathory’s ghost, who is hunting them down one by one. Time is running out, and the final showdown draws near as the remaining players enter the last level of the game.

In the climax, Hutch faces the countess in a gothic tower, using both game logic and real-world actions to destroy her. With the help of Abigail and Swink, he finally defeats her by burning her body and destroying the cursed game. Though the nightmare seems over, the final scene hints that the game may still be out there, ready to claim more victims — keeping the terror alive.
