The Unborn follows a young woman named Casey Beldon, who begins experiencing strange occurrences and disturbing dreams. She is haunted by the ghost of a child and starts to unravel a disturbing family secret. These events are connected to her late mother, who died under mysterious circumstances, and Casey begins to wonder if she is being targeted by a supernatural force.

 

As Casey investigates, she learns about her family's dark past. Her mother was pregnant with twins, but one of the children was stillborn, and its spirit seems to have remained restless. The spirit of the stillborn child, a malevolent force, is intent on possessing Casey's body.

 

Casey turns to a rabbi for help, and he explains that the evil spirit might be the result of a "dybbuk," a malicious spirit in Jewish folklore. The rabbi reveals that the dybbuk is linked to Casey’s family and was unleashed through an ancient curse. As the supernatural activity intensifies, Casey’s health deteriorates, and she struggles to fight the possession.

 

Casey’s situation grows more dire as she fights the possession. She experiences disturbing visions, and the entity’s influence over her strengthens. With the help of her friends and the rabbi, Casey seeks a way to break the curse and banish the dybbuk from her life.

 

In a climactic ritual, Casey faces the dybbuk in an attempt to rid herself of its influence. The battle culminates in a shocking twist, where it’s revealed that Casey’s mother had tried to protect her from the spirit, but ultimately, the evil force managed to find a way into Casey’s life. The movie concludes with a chilling implication that the struggle against the supernatural force may not be over.
